Origin and history
This house, located in Pont-Saint-Esprit, in the Gard, dates from the 17th century and is distinguished by its wrought iron ramp, classified as Historic Monument by order of 6 March 1954. The staircase, serving two floors, has symmetrical panels with various patterns, with the exception of the last, dissymmetric. A central panel on the first floor has weapons surmounted by a motto, highlighting its aristocratic or bourgeois character.
The ramp, composed of large panels framed with small round-angle elements, illustrates the know-how of the blacksmiths of the time. Each unique panel reflects an extensive aesthetic research, typical of metalwork in the 17th century. The official address, 29bis place du Plan, and its Insee code (30202) links it to the commune of Pont-Saint-Esprit, in the former region Languedoc-Roussillon, now integrated with Occitanie.
Although the sources mention an approximate location via GPS (31 Rue des Minimes), only the wrought iron ramp enjoys heritage protection. No information is available on public access, visit, or any reassignment of the building (guest rooms, rental).
