Origin and history
The house located in Tours, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, corresponds to part of the old stables of the Hotel de la Bourdaisière. Its north facade, which delimits the garden of this hotel, was raised from one floor to the seventeenth century. The ground floor is distinguished by a series of low arcades, while the first floor is rhythmized by three pilaster-framed windows surmounted by composite capitals. These architectural elements reflect popular styles during the Renaissance and early classical era.
The monument has been partially protected since 1962, with an inscription covering facades and roofs, including that overlooking the courtyard of #8 Place Foire-le-Roi. This registration attests to its heritage value, although its exact location is considered poor (precision 5/10). The official address, 6bis Place Fair the King, and approximate GPS coordinates (8 Place Fair the King) suggest an integration into the historic urban fabric of Tours, marked by the legacy of private hotels and buildings linked to the local aristocracy.
The origin of this house is closely linked to the hotel de la Bourdaisière, an architectural complex whose stables were partly renovated. The elevation in the seventeenth century illustrates an adaptation of existing structures to the needs or tastes of the era. Today, although information on its accessibility (visit, rental) is lacking, its protection under the Historical Monuments makes it a witness to the urban and architectural transformations of Tours between Renaissance and modern times.
