The prebendal house, located 1 Place du Petit-Cloître in Saint-Pol-de-Léon, is a civil building dating from the first half of the 16th century. This three-storey building, characterized by a carved gable, illustrates the Breton home architecture of the Renaissance. It bears witness to the social status of its owners, the canons, influential members of the chapter of the cathedral of Leon.

The house belonged to the Richard family, some of whose members were canons of Leon. This link with the local clergy underscores the importance of pre-bendents – incomes attached to an ecclesiastical function – in the economy and society of Saint-Pol-de-Léon at that time. The monument, which has been listed in the Historical Monuments since 1926, is now owned by the municipality.

The location of the house, close to the cloister, reflects its integration into the religious and urban fabric of the episcopal city. Its state of conservation and heritage protection make it a remarkable example of the Breton architectural heritage.
