Fronts and roofs and stables on the ground floor with their devices (Box AB 594): inscription by order of 2 September 1986

Origin and history

The Faverney Barracks is a military building built in the 3rd quarter of the 18th century. Located in the commune of Faverney, Haute-Saône, it is representative of the utilitarian architecture of this period, intended to house troops or military equipment. Its facades, roofs and stables, which have been listed as historic monuments since 1986, demonstrate its local heritage importance.

The building, now owned by the municipality, illustrates the role of the barracks in the territorial and logistical organization of the armies under the Old Regime. These infrastructures were often located in strategic cities, such as Faverney, to facilitate the control of regional roads and resources. Their preservation makes it possible to understand the evolution of military needs and construction techniques in the eighteenth century.

The stables, located on the ground floor, are a remarkable element of this monument. Their inscription, combined with that of facades and roofs, underscores their historical and architectural value. The Protection Order of 2 September 1986 specifically covers these parts, guaranteeing their conservation for future generations.
