Origin and history
Bosbomparent Castle is a medieval building located in the commune of Saint-Beauzire, Haute-Loire, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Built in the 14th century, it illustrates the defensive architecture of this period, with a main house body flanked by a tower of stairs and an imposing corner tower. Its history was marked by a gradual deterioration in the 19th century, followed by a fire which left it abandoned until 1976.
The building consists of a central house, connected by a enclosure to a high and almost blind square tower, typical of the fortifications of the era. Despite its disrepair, the castle is recognized for its heritage importance and is listed as a historical monument by order of 5 December 2001. This official protection underscores its architectural and historical value in the landscape of Haute-Loire castles.
Today, the castle of Bosbomparent remains a testimony of medieval seigneurial constructions in Auvergne. Although partly in ruins, its structure retains characteristic elements such as the stair turret and the corner tower, offering an overview of the defensive and residential organization of the castles of this area in the 14th century.
