Origin and history

Cabanne Castle is a bastide located in Rognes, in the Bouches-du-Rhône region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Built in the 4th quarter of the 18th century, this house illustrates the Provencal residential architecture of the period, marked by classical influences and careful landscaping, including terraces, gardens and private chapels.

The monument was the subject of two inscriptions in the title of historical monuments: a first in 1976 for its facades and roofs, followed by a second in 2015 covering interior and exterior elements (housework, terraces, chapel, remains of the old bastide). These protections underline its heritage importance, particularly for its architectural characteristics and its integration into the local landscape.

The available sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) specify that the castle, located departmental path 14c, preserves typical elements of Provençal bastides, such as terraced gardens, aisles lined with boxwood, and agricultural outbuildings. Its state of conservation and location, noted as "very satisfactory" (score 8/10), make it a representative example of the rural and aristocratic heritage of the late eighteenth century in Provence.
