Origin and history

Falletans Castle is a house built in the late seventeenth century or early eighteenth century, located in the town of Falletans, in the Jura department. This monument, inscribed as historical monuments on April 23, 2012, presents a body of elongated houses flanked by two square towers to the south. Its interior preserves remarkable elements, such as decorations painted in the galleries of the central staircase, chimneys and panelling mainly of Louis XVI style. The complex is complemented by communal buildings and a park, highlighting its architectural and landscape importance.

The castle underwent some modifications during the 19th century, while preserving its original characteristics. The 2012 official protection covers not only the home, but also the courtyard with its well, the communes and the park, including the west support wall. These elements reflect the evolution of the site and its role in the local heritage, reflecting the tastes and construction techniques of the eras concerned.

The location of the castle, specified by the Merimée base, is located at 12 rue des Châteaux in Falletans, in a setting that combines history and architecture. Although the information on its current use (visits, rental, accommodation) is not detailed in the sources, its listing as historical monuments makes it a protected site and recognized for its heritage value.
