Origin and history

The Château de La Trye is a building located in the commune of Hermes, in the Hauts-de-France region. Although its existence is attested, the available sources do not specify its construction period or detailed history. This monument therefore remains partially mysterious for local historians.

The castles of this region, often linked to feudal or seigneurial history, played a central role in the social and economic organization of the territories. In Hermes, as elsewhere in Picardia, these buildings could be used as a noble residence, defence or administrative centre. Their presence generally reflected the power of local families or religious institutions, although the records specific to La Trye did not allow us to say more.
