Origin and history

Parenty Castle, located in the commune of Parenty (Pas-de-Calais), was built in 1785 by Gaspard Le Vasseur, seigneur of Thubeauville. This monument illustrates the aristocratic architecture of the late eighteenth century, with a rectangular plan on three levels and a facade on the park marked by a semicircular forebody. Its style reflects the classical influences of the era, mixing symmetry and elegance.

Acquired in 1813 by the Bavre family, the castle was then passed on to several noble lines, including the Le Roy de Méricourt and the Blaisel. These estates bear witness to its importance as a seigneurial residence and then as a family heritage. The building, surrounded by a closed park of flint walls, has preserved protected elements since 2016, such as its facades, roofs, and the entrance gate.

Ranked a Historic Monument, the Castle of Parenty embodies the architectural and social heritage of the rural elites of Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Its registration in 2016 preserved its original features, including the gates, the court floor, and the park, which contribute to its remarkable landscape. The location, specified as satisfactory (note 7/10), confirms its anchoring in the territory of Parenty.
