Origin and history

The Château de Saint-Félix, located in Rodez in Occitanie, was built in the early 17th century, around 1606. It was commanded by the Jesuits of the College of Rodez as the house of the vineyards, intended to serve as a summer residence. The building adopts a rectangular plan on three levels, supplemented by a cellar, and is distinguished by a central tower on the north facade. This tower houses a four-fly staircase serving the main rooms.

In 1793 the castle was sold as a national good, marking a turning point in its history. The main building is accompanied by communes organized in U, including a semicircular bread oven in the east. Although the interior decoration has almost completely disappeared, the fireplaces on the ground floor and first floor still retain studded decorations on their coats. The whole, including the tower and the commons, reflects a functional architecture adapted to its original use.

Ranked a historic monument by decree of 9 November 1984, the Château de Saint-Félix today embodies an architectural heritage linked to Rodez's religious and educational history. Its inclusion in the inventory of historical monuments underlines its importance in the cultural landscape of Aveyron and Occitanie. The accuracy of its location, however, remains limited, with an approximate address indicated as 9005 Saint-Felix, 12,000 Rodez.
