Origin and history
Launoy-Renault Castle, located in Verdelot in Seine-et-Marne, is a building whose origins date back to the 13th century, with major transformations in the 15th and 16th centuries. This monument illustrates the architectural evolution between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, as evidenced by its facades, roofs, and honorary staircase, protected since 1986. Defensive elements, such as moats, their escarps, and the dormant bridge, reflect its past as a fortress adapted to the residential needs of the Renaissance.
The castle has been the subject of two protection campaigns under the Historical Monuments: a first in 1986 for its Renaissance parts (guard room, staircase, facades), and a second in 2015 for its defensive structures (doves, bridge, vaulted cabinets).
