Origin and history

The castle of Dompierre-sur-Authie, located in the department of the Somme, was built in 1627 by Charles de Rambures, as evidenced by the engraved date near the entrance. This monument combines brick and stone, characteristic of the picardic buildings of the era. The roofs, restored in their original style, and a spiral staircase serving the floors recall its classical architecture.

The interiors retain original elements, such as monumental chimneys adorned with the weapons of Charles de Rambures. The apparent brick in all rooms emphasizes the authenticity of its structure. The castle, partially protected (façades and roofs inscribed in 1965), embodies the seigneurial heritage of the region.

Although the sources mention a period of construction in the eighteenth century, the original building dates from the seventeenth century, reflecting architectural developments and subsequent restorations. Its location, northwest of the Somme, makes it a witness to local history, linked to the Rambures family and the Picardian aristocracy.
