Origin and history

The Cadiscia Castle is a building located in the municipality of Teyssode, in the Occitan region. Although its existence is attested, the available sources do not specify its construction period or detailed history. This monument therefore remains partially mysterious for local historians.

In southwestern France, castles have often played a central role in the social and economic organization of the territories. In Teyssode, as in other Occitan villages, these buildings could be used as seigneurial residences, defence sites or symbols of power. Their presence generally reflected the feudal or post-feudal structure of the region, characterized by a rural economy and vassal relations.
