Origin and history

Captan Castle is a monument located in Audignon, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Built during the 4th quarter of the 19th century, it reflects the architectural and social trends of this era marked by industrialization and the rise of bourgeois residences in rural areas. At the end of the 19th century, castles and large houses in rural areas often served as secondary residences for wealthy families.

They also symbolized a form of economic and social power, while participating in local life through their role in agriculture or domestic employment.
