Origin and history

The Château de la Forêt is an iconic building located in Livry-Gargan, in the Seine-Saint-Denis department. Built in 1864, it is distinguished by its Louis XIII style architecture, combining stones and bricks. This castle is part of a ten-hectare park, Lefèvre Park, which makes it a historic and natural place in the heart of the Île-de-France.

The castle now houses two municipal museums: the Sévigné Museum and the local history museum. These cultural spaces allow to discover the history of the region and its inhabitants, while valuing the architectural heritage of the nineteenth century. Its integration into a public park also makes it a place of walking and discovery for visitors.

Although the sources do not explicitly mention its initial use, its style and location suggest that it has been able to play a role in Livry-Gargan's social and cultural life since its construction. Today, it remains a symbol of local heritage, combining history, architecture and museum function.
