Origin and history
The chapel Saint-Aaron is a small religious building located in the commune of Saint-Malo, Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany. Built in 1621, it is dedicated to Saint Aaron, considered the spiritual father of Saint Malo. According to tradition, it stands at the presumed location of this saint's landing, hermitage or grave.
The building, of modest dimensions (6 meters wide and 5 meters long), has a simple west facade, with a door topped by a bay, a bell and a cross. Two other bays illuminate the south facade. The chapel, registered as a historical monument since 14 February 1946, is now owned by an association.
Located north of Saint-Malo intra-muros, at 3 Place Saint-Aaron (formerly rue Saint-Benoît), it embodies a religious and historical heritage rooted in the city's founding narratives. Its sober architecture reflects its role as a building of local devotion, linked to the memory of Saint Aaron.
Available sources, such as Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm its listing as historical monuments and its precise location, although some geographical data are considered to be of poor accuracy (level 5/10).
