Origin and history
The chapel of Saint Paul de Pujos, located in Estadens in Occitanie, dates from the second half of the 15th century. Although little precise information is available on its history, its portal has notable architectural features. It is framed by five fluted columns on each side, three of which extend into a basket handle arch. The outer columns end with pinnacles, while the gable, decorated with foliage, houses a upper relief bust representing an undressed euphoric figure.
The chapel gate, the only protected element, was inscribed in the Historical Monuments by decree of 20 September 1972. The exact location of the chapel is approximate, with an address indicated as 4 squares from Saint Paul to Estadens. The monument belongs to the municipality, but no information is provided on its current accessibility or use (visits, rental, etc.).
Available sources, such as Monumentum, do not provide details on sponsors, builders or events related to the chapel. Only the architectural descriptions of the portal and its registration as Historical Monuments are documented. The region, marked by a rich medieval heritage, often sees this type of religious buildings play a central role in local community life, especially as a place of worship or assembly.
