Origin and history
The Chapel Notre-Dame-du-Cloître is a Catholic religious building located at the place called Le Cloître in Quistinic, Morbihan. Built in 1638, it adopts a rectangular flat bedside plan, with a south door decorated with Renaissance motifs (losanges, volutes, laminated pilasters). Its interior pavement is granite, and it houses a wooden statue of Notre-Dame du Cloître, dated the same year.
The chapel is erected near the Château de la Villeneuve-Jacquelot. Its date of construction, engraved on the northeast foothill, confirms its origin in the seventeenth century. The west wall supports a small bell tower, while the south facade features a low-rise, richly decorated handle door. The building, owned by the commune, has been listed as historical monuments since 17 September 1973.
The site also includes a fountain of devotion, typical of Breton chapels. The protected elements (Cadastre A 493) reflect its heritage importance. Its architecture combines structural simplicity and Renaissance ornaments, characteristic of the religious buildings of the region at that time.
