Origin and history
The Notre-Dame-du-Temple Chapel is a religious building located in the commune of Pléboulle, in the Côtes-d-Armor department, Brittany. This monument, whose location is estimated as "a priori satisfactory", has been included in the inventory of Historic Monuments since 13 October 2023. The decree of protection covers not only the chapel itself, but also its placister and an adjoining cross, all of which appear on the cadastal plot ZM #4.
The property belongs to the commune of Pléboulle, although no information is available about its accessibility to the public or its current use (visits, rental, accommodation). The chapel is part of a regional context marked by a rich religious heritage in Brittany, where such buildings often played a central role in community life. The chapels, frequent in rural areas, served as places of worship, assembly and pilgrimage, reflecting the Marian devotion deeply rooted in Brittany.
Their placister, a sacred space surrounding the building, was often a place of religious festivals, processions or village meetings. Although the architectural details or the precise period of construction of this chapel are not mentioned, its recent inscription underlines its heritage and cultural importance for the preservation of local history.
