Origin and history

The chapel Saint-Barthélemy de Bonneval-sur-Arc is a religious monument located in the municipality of Bonneval-sur-Arc, Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This place of worship, whose location is estimated to be poor (note of 5/10), has been included in the inventory of Historic Monuments since 1 December 1980. Today it belongs to the commune and is part of the local architectural heritage.

Mountain chapels, such as Bonneval-sur-Arc, often played a central role in the life of Alpine communities. They served as a gathering place for religious services, local festivals and moments of solidarity, reflecting the importance of faith and traditions in these isolated territories.
