Origin and history
The chapel Saint-Ferréol and Saint-Ferjeux, located in Misery-Salines in the Doubs department, was built during the 3rd quarter of the 19th century, beginning in 1854, according to the plans of architect Pierre Marnotte. This rectangular building is distinguished by its unique nave entirely covered with painted decorations, a false vault with caissons, and various stained glass windows. Outside, a two-column porch with a trilobed arch precedes the entrance, while a bell tower crowns the gable wall.
The chapel was listed as historic monuments by order of 23 April 2012, thus recognizing its heritage value. It now belongs to a private company and is part of the parish of Val des Salines, attached to the diocese of Besançon. Its architecture and interior decoration testify to the religious artistic practices of the period, mixing structural simplicity and ornamental richness.
Available sources, including Wikipedia and the Merimée base, highlight its historical and architectural interest. The chapel is located precisely at the address 26 Route de la Chapelle, in a commune marked by its past linked to the salines, as evokes the toponym Misery-Salines. Its state of conservation and its recent protection make it a representative example of the 19th century franco-comtanian religious heritage.
