Origin and history

Saint-Jean-Baptiste Chapel is a religious building located in the commune of Rogliano, Haute-Corse. Built in the 17th century, it embodies the sacred architecture of this period in Corsica, marked by strong Baroque influence and adaptation to local constraints. Its registration as a Historic Monument in 2016 underscores its heritage value and its role in the religious history of the region.

The monument, owned by the municipality, is located precisely in Bettolacce, a place called Rogliano. Although available sources do not detail its current use (visits, rentals, etc.), its protected status guarantees its preservation. The chapel reflects the importance of religious buildings in the social and cultural organization of Corsica, often in the heart of local villages and traditions.

The location data, although considered passable (level 5/10), allow to situate the chapel in its geographical context, between sea and mountain. This type of monument, typical of rural Corsica, served both as a place of worship, community gathering and identity marker for the inhabitants, in a region where the Catholic religion has played a central role for centuries.
