Origin and history

The Château Belin is a central pavilion charter house built in the middle of the eighteenth century, located in the commune of Léognan, in the department of Gironde. This monument represents a typical example of the wine-growing residential architecture of this period, with wings of commons and a guard house organized in courtyard.

The estate, though modest, reflects the organization of the wine estates of the time in New Aquitaine. Its dependencies, arranged in a U-plan, suggest a farm structured around wine production. The castle was renovated in the middle of the 20th century, partially adapting its spaces to modern needs.

Listed as historical monuments since 6 March 2009, the castle Belin is fully protected, including its outbuildings, plot and fence. This inscription underscores its heritage importance as a testimony to regional architectural and winemaking history. The available sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) confirm its status as an emblematic monument of the Gironde.
