Origin and history

The castle of Annel, located in the commune of Longuil-Annel (Oise), is a building whose protected elements include facades, roofs, an interior wooden staircase, as well as several outbuildings and related structures such as an old sprout, a cooler and a vegetable garden. These components, stylistically consistent, demonstrate a careful architecture and a preserved rural heritage. Enrollment in the Historic Monuments in 2018 saved this ensemble, including commemorative elements such as a marble column dedicated to Mrs. Papillon de la Ferté and a monument honouring Private Guard in the park.

The location of the castle in the Hauts-de-France is part of a territory marked by agricultural and seigneurial history. Castles in this region, often linked to influential local families, served as administrative or residential centres. Their preservation reflects the importance attached to built heritage, especially when it incorporates utilitarian elements (glacery, vegetable garden) and memorials, illustrating the daily life and social hierarchies of past times.
