Origin and history
The Château d'Aché is a building located in Valframbert, in the department of Orne in Normandy. Built between 1862 and 1865 by architect Coypel in a neo-Louis XIII style, it replaces a former mansion. This castle is distinguished by its construction of bricks and stones, typical of 19th century architectural eclecticism.
In 1902, the architect Mezen added a wing in the same style, thus completing the monumental ensemble. The castle preserves remarkable interior elements, including in the vestibule, dining room and living room. These spaces, as well as facades and roofs, have been protected since 1994 by an inscription in the Historical Monuments.
The estate also includes a park with a garden from the early 19th century and an orangery, testimonies of the landscaping of the period. The castle thus illustrates the architectural and landscape evolution of the aristocratic residences between the Second Empire and the Belle Époque, while being part of the local heritage of the Orne.
