Origin and history

The Château d'Éguilles is an emblematic monument located in the commune of Eguilles, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Built during the 3rd quarter of the 17th century, it embodies the architecture of this period and was designed by architect Pierre Pavillon. Today, it houses the town hall of the commune, while maintaining its historic character.

The castle was partially listed as a historical monument on 29 August 1984. This protection specifically concerns the facades and roofs of the castle and its chapel, as well as the entrance hall and staircase. These architectural elements testify to the heritage importance of the site, which remains a central place in local life.

Owned by the commune, the Château d'Eguilles is also referenced in the Mérimée base, which underscores its architectural and historical interest. Its official address, 1 Rue du Grand Logis, makes it a landmark in the village. The chapel of the castle, today parish church, strengthens its anchor in the religious and community life of Eguilles.
