Façades and roofs of the housing body with its two towers and the communes of the 18s that follow it (C 219): inscription by order of 13 November 1990
Origin and history
The Château de Barelles, located in Villefranche-de-Lauragais in Occitanie, is a historic monument built in the 18th century. The estate consists of a common building, formerly a farm, and a master house. The latter has a classic five-span facade on two levels, topped by an attic pierced by the doculi. Two square pyramidal roof turrets frame the facade, adding a distinctive touch to the architectural ensemble.
Inside, the castle retains notable decorative elements, such as a Rocaille-style fireplace on the ground floor and a canned wooden staircase ramp. These details reflect the artistic taste and refined craftsmanship of the time. The estate, partially protected, saw its facades and roofs, as well as those of the eighteenth century communes, listed in the inventory of Historical Monuments by order of 13 November 1990.
The location of the castle, specified as being at 170 Barelles in Villefranche-de-Lauragais, enjoys good geographical accuracy (note of 8/10). This monument illustrates the civil architecture of the Occitanie region, marked by a fusion between agricultural functionality and residential elegance, typical of the 18th century rural estates.
