Origin and history

Beauregard Castle is a pleasure castle built between the second half of the eighteenth century and the nineteenth century, located in the municipality of Seyssinet-Pariset, near Grenoble, in the department of Isère. It is a private property owned today by the Perrin family, the Grenobles glovemakers, and is only open to the public on rare occasions, in coordination with the town hall. The monument is distinguished by its three-storey architecture, its stucco and trompe-l'oeil interior decorations dated 1780, as well as its vast park with greenhouses, fountains, and panoramic views of Grenoble and the alpine mountains.

The large living room and adjoining room, decorated with gypsum and murals, were classified as historical monuments by order of 15 December 1997. The rest of the castle, as well as the whole park including the factories and greenhouses, were partly registered on the same date. A first registration had taken place on 17 November 1996. The site is also marked by the stay of Jean-Jacques Rousseau in 1768, although this information requires confirmation by reliable sources.

The castle park, designed in the 18th and 19th centuries, includes remarkable elements such as a large swimming pool, a waterfall, an alley of century-old trees, and pools fed by a spring. These facilities, combined with the exceptional view of the Belledonne and Mont Blanc, make it a popular lookout. The interior decorations, especially those of the large living room and the bedroom, made in the late 1780s and probably taken over around 1840, bear witness to the artistic refinement of the period.
