Origin and history
Beauvoir Castle, located in Belbèze-en-Cominges in Haute-Garonne, is a mansion built in the 18th century. This historic monument is characterized by elegant architecture, with a main façade facing south, pierced by many curved bays. A double-flyed porch leads to the entrance, topped by a balcony decorated with Louis XV-style ironwork, typical of this period.
Inside, the castle retains remarkable decorative elements, such as fireplaces, woodwork and gypsum shops dating from the 18th century or directly inspired by it. These details reflect the architectural and artisanal refinement of the time, as well as the social status of the owners, probably from the bourgeoisie or the local nobility.
The main façade, accompanied by its corresponding roof, was listed as a historical monument by order of 9 August 1990. This protection highlights the heritage importance of the building, while emphasizing its role in the local history of Belbèze-en-Cominges and the Occitanie region. No information is available on original owners or architects involved in its construction.
The castle, although partially protected, does not have precise information in the available sources as to its current accessibility, whether it is visits, room rental or accommodation in guest rooms. Its location, noted as "passable" (level 5/10), suggests an approximation in the GPS coordinates provided by the Merimée base.
