Origin and history

The Château de Bruis is a building located in the municipality of the same name, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Although classified as a monument, the available sources do not specify its construction period or detailed history. Its existence, however, bears witness to the local architectural heritage, often linked to defensive or seigneurial functions in Provencal rural areas.

In the Southern Alps, medieval or modern castles played a central role in territorial organization. They were used as checkpoints for commercial roads, shelter for the population, or residences for local lords. Bruis, like other villages in the region, probably saw his castle evolve according to the strategic needs and social transformations of his time.
