Origin and history

Candale Castle is an emblematic building in the municipality of Doazit in the Landes department. Built in the late 16th century, it bears witness to the architecture of this period and the influence of local lords.

This castle was erected by the lords of Foix-Candale, a noble family that marked the history of the region. By the 15th century, this line had been imposed as master of the Barony of Doazit, thus consolidating its power and architectural heritage.

Today, Candale Castle remains a symbol of the historical heritage of the Landes. It illustrates the evolution of seigneurial constructions in the modern era and their role in the territorial and social organization of the region.
