Origin and history

The Château de la Cour de Cellières is an 18th-century building located in the village of Cellières, in the commune of Juvardeil, Maine-et-Loire. This monument, inscribed in the Historical Monuments in 1977 and 1987, bears witness to the civil architecture of Anjou under the Old Regime. Its adorned facades, roofs, stairs and fireplaces are protected for their heritage value.

Prior to the Revolution, Cellières was a parish whose priory-curtain of Saint-Martin depended on the abbey of Saint-Nicolas d'Angers. The local lord had ceded this territory around 1080, marking his religious and feudal anchor. The castle, built much later, is part of this historical continuity.

The successive protections (1977 for interior elements such as wrought iron stairs and chimneys, 1987 for the house of servants) underline the richness of its decor. The site, still located at 5078 La Cour de Cellière, retains a geographical accuracy deemed satisfactory (note 8/10).
