Origin and history

Château de la Noue is a historic monument located on the border of the communes of Dene and Mozé-sur-Louet, in the department of Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region. This castle, of an angelvin type, consists of a main house body built in the 17th and 18th centuries, with subsequent modifications in the 19th century, notably in 1889 by collector Alfred Jubien. The building, little modified since its construction, preserves architectural elements characteristic of its time, such as gardens, madness and fence walls.

Listed under the title of historical monuments by order of 16 February 1995, the Château de la Noue protects not only its main house, but also its garden, madness and fence walls, spread over the plots of the two communes. Available sources, such as the Merimée or Monumentum base, highlight its heritage importance in the landscape of the Angelian castles. Although its detailed history remains partially documented, its inscription bears witness to its architectural and historical value to the region.

The location of the castle, at 5013 La Noue, Denée, reflects its anchoring in a territory marked by the rural and seigneurial history of Anjou. The department of Maine-et-Loire, known for its many castles and houses of character, places this monument in a wider context of residential and landscaped heritage. The changes made in the 19th century, notably by Alfred Jubien, suggest an adaptation to the tastes and needs of the time, while preserving the original spirit of the place.
