Origin and history

The Château de Label, located in Saint-Simon in the Cantal, is a manor house whose origins date back to at least the fourteenth century. In 1333, Pierre de Tourtoulou was mentioned as lord of Label, indicating an early noble occupation. In the 16th century, Antoinette du Cheylar, Lady of Label, sold land after the death of her husband, N. Guy de Marcenat, in 1520. The Label family retained the estate until the end of the 17th century, with notable alliances such as Pierre Faliets and Agnes de Tourdes in 1571.

From the 18th century, the Colinet de Label family marked the history of the castle. Joseph Colinet (1695-1763), annoyed in 1751, and his son Pierre-Joseph (1726-1792), a criminal lieutenant, had the current mansion rebuilt. The latter, married to Anne de Vigier d'Orcet, died massacred during the Revolution. Their descendants, such as François-Toussaint and Jacques-Antoine Colinet de Label, perpetuate the lineage until the 19th century, with influential marriages in the region.

The modern castle, in a sober style, includes a rectangular house body, a staircase tower and a wing in appentis. Although linked to local noble and bourgeois families, he is not visiting today. Its architecture reflects the transformations of the 17th and 18th centuries, when the Colinet de Label, from the Anoblia bourgeoisie, left their mark on the estate.
