Origin and history

Lacapelle Castle is a building located in Damiatte, Tarn department, Occitanie region. Built during the 15th century, it underwent further transformations, including the loss of its western wing, which once gave it a U-shaped shape visible on the 17th century cadastre. This monument, characteristic of late medieval architecture, preserves original elements such as latrines and a door window.

In the 19th century, the castle passed from the family of Villeneuve to the Bruguière family, who still own it today. The ground floor was converted into a gite, while preserving the main structure of the building. The facade, divided into eight spans with two projections at the ends, reflects the architectural changes experienced by the castle over the centuries.

The wing is present, lower than the central body, suggests the past existence of a symmetric to the west, confirmed by the ancient planes. The castle, built in stone, rises on three floors and illustrates the adaptation of seigneurial buildings to residential and economic needs throughout the eras.
