Origin and history

Lasvy Castle, also known as Lasvy Castle, is a Renaissance monument located at Lasvy, in the commune of Champsanglard, in the department of Creuse (New Aquitaine). This castle, very well preserved, has remained in the same family since the end of the 19th century. It is distinguished by its elegant architecture, with a simple house body, two east-side corner towers, a chapel on the west side and a moat on the north side. The South facade, sober, organizes on three levels with five openings per level.

The engineer and entrepreneur Léon Chagnaud, Senator de la Creuse, acquired the castle in 1898, renovated it and died there in 1930. Very attached to his origins, he bequeathed part of his fortune to the canton of Bonnat. The house, still owned by the Chagnaud family, retains an intact interior, with elements of the Ancien Régime, painted beams, hangings and murals. The park, accessible by a châtelet with pink walls, is situated in a preserved environment of meadows, ponds and tillages, typical of the Creus countryside.

Although the castle is emblematic of Champsanglard, it does not enjoy any protection for historical monuments. Yet it illustrates the architectural and landscape heritage of the Creuse, between family history and Renaissance heritage.
