Château de Loche (Case C 36): inscription by order of 28 April 1964

Origin and history

Château de Loche is a historic monument located in the commune of Grésy-sur-Aix, Savoie (Department 73), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It has been included in the inventory of Historical Monuments since 28 April 1964, under the cadastral reference C 36. Its exact location is reported at 1934 Route de Droise, although the accuracy of its location is considered a priori satisfactory (note 7/10).

This castle, whose origins and period of construction are not specified in the available sources, embodies the local architectural heritage. The monuments of this type, in Savoy, often reflect the feudal or seigneurial history of the region, marked by rural dynamics and exchanges between the alpine valleys and the plains. Their preservation, like that of Loche Castle, allows us to study the evolution of lifestyles, construction techniques and social relations between the Middle Ages and the modern era.
