Origin and history

The château de Lonné, also known as château de Loné, is a 17th-century residence located in Igé, in the Orne department in Normandy. Built around 1635 by François de Faudoas de Sérillac and Renée de Brie, it was acquired successively by the Marquis de Sourches in 1661, then by Claude de Bullion in 1684. The estate, representative of the large estates of the Perche Ornais, retains architectural and landscape elements from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

The castle was completely restored in 1890 by architect Paul-Ernest Sanson, who preserved his Louis XIII style while modernizing the interiors. The gardens, renovated in 1929 by Édouard André, incorporate 18th-century layouts. The neo-Louis XIII chapel, built between 1882 and 1885, and the outbuildings (farm, mill, bakery) complete this set classified as historical monuments in 2000.

The estate passes into the hands of influential families: Billy's (XVI century), Bouchet's (XVII century), Bullion's (XVIII century), and Orgland's (XIX XX century). The site, open to the visit, bears witness to the architectural and landscape evolution of a Norman noble estate over four centuries.
