Origin and history

Le Château de Monnetier is a monument located in the commune of Monnetier-Mornex, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The available sources do not specify its period of construction or its detailed history, making it a building whose origins remain partially mysterious. In this region, castles have often played a central role in local social and economic organization, serving as seigneurial residences, defence sites or administrative centres.

Their presence generally reflects the strategic or agricultural importance of the surrounding territories, although the specificities of Monnetier Castle are not documented in current sources.
