Origin and history

The Castle of Peyriac, located in Condom in Occitanie, is a historical monument whose origins date back to at least the seventeenth century. The site was occupied from prehistoric times, but it was in 1607 that a chapel was built there, marking the beginning of significant developments. The castle itself, built near an 18th-century fountain serving as a drinking pot, consists of a central house surrounded by commons organized around two courtyards. Two stairs lead to the intersoils, themselves built above vaulted cellars, while a full arched porch gives access to the main courtyard.

The structure also includes two partially dilapidated round towers to the southeast. As soon as they were built, their upper part was dedicated to a dovecote, a common function in the seigneurial domains of the time. The castle, whose facades and roofs have been protected since 1972, illustrates the aristocratic residential architecture of Gers, mixing agricultural utility and prestige.

The exact address of the monument, according to the Merimée base, is the 9005 Cht Peyriac in Condom, in the Gers department (code Insee 32107). Although classified as a Historical Monument, the practical information about its current visit or use (rent, guest rooms) is not specified in the available sources. GPS location is considered to be of poor accuracy (note 5/10), which can make tracking difficult without on-site verification.
