Origin and history

The Château de Pin, located in the municipality of the same name in Haute-Saône, is a building whose origins date back to the 15th and 16th centuries. The present house body, rebuilt in the 18th century, builds on the remains of the ancient medieval castle, several of which remain to the west of the court of honor. This architectural mix illustrates the successive transformations of the site, marked by periods of conflict and renovation.

In 1477, the castle was taken and damaged by the French troops during the battle of the bridge of Émagny, an episode of the wars of Burgundy. This event marks a turning point in its history, before its partial reconstruction in the following centuries. The elements protected today include the 18th century house body, facades, a stair tower, as well as 16th century fireplaces, reflecting its stylistic evolution.

Ranked a historic monument in 1995, the Château de Pin preserves 18th century interior decorations and a closed park, reflecting its status as a seigneurial residence and then private. Although the property is now in private hands, its inscription underlines its heritage importance in the department of Haute-Saône and the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region.
