Origin and history

Porhman Castle, also known as Porman Castle, is a granite building located in Reguiny, Morbihan, England. Built between 1685 and 1710, it replaces a first 15th century castle belonging to the Eudoux family. This monument illustrates the civil architecture of the 4th quarter of the 17th and 1st quarter of the 18th century, with a central building body flanked by two pavilions and a monumental granite staircase.

The construction was initiated by Françoise de Guébriac and her husband Julien de La Touche, perhaps according to the plans of architect Olivier Delourme. The estate, including chapel, mill and pond, then passes to the families of Cuy and Longeaux. The facades, roofs, the interior staircase and the courtyard of honour have been protected since 1964 as historical monuments.

The castle is distinguished by its court of honor framed by carved pilasters and granite commons. Inside, the central staircase, supported by arches and pillars, occupies the main pavilion. The site, linked to Rohan's seigneury, reflects the prestige of the Breton noble families of the modern era.

The protected elements also include the facades of the communes and the pillars marking the entrance. The estate, although partially modified, retains its original organization, with a wing of commons bordering the court. Today, there remains a major architectural testimony of the Morbihan heritage.

The exact location of the castle, at the place called Porhman 2.5 km from Naizin, is attested by sources such as Monumentum and the Merimée base. Its status and openness to the public are not specified in the available documents.

Sources indicate a priori satisfactory location accuracy (level 7/10), with approximate GPS coordinates (4 Porhman, 56500 Reguiny). No recent information on its current use (visits, events) is provided.
