Origin and history
The château de Saint-Cyr, located in Lavilletertre in the department of the Oise (Hauts-de-France), is a building built between the 17th and 18th centuries. It embodies the aristocratic residential architecture of this period, marked by characteristic facades and roofs, as well as a court of honor bounded by an entrance gate. These elements, protected by a decree of 26 September 1969, bear witness to its heritage importance and its remarkable state of conservation for the time.
Like many castles in the region, the Saint-Cyr castle reflects the way of life of local elites under the Old Regime, where these residences served as both a place of power, social representation and management of surrounding lands. Picardie, now integrated into the Hauts-de-France, was then an agricultural and strategic region, where castles played a central role in the economic and social organization of the countryside. Their preservation, like that of the castle of Saint-Cyr, allows to understand the historical and architectural dynamics of this period.
The information available indicates that the castle is partially open to the public, with indications of possible visits, room rentals or accommodation in guest rooms. However, the sources do not specify the exact modalities of these services. Its address, 9002 Route Saint-Cyr in Lavilletertre, as well as its listing in the Inventory of Historic Monuments, make it an accessible and documented site, although the accuracy of its geographical location is considered satisfactory a priori according to the criteria of the Merimée base.
