Origin and history
The Château de Saint-Geniez de Bertrand is a military building built in the 15th century, located in Saint-Georges-de-Luzençon, in the department of Aveyron, in the Occitanie region. This monument has marked defensive features, such as scallops, mâchicoulis and sled windows. The upper part of the castle has been shaved, but it preserves an inner courtyard with a arched gallery, as well as a staircase, a door and a fireplace typical of the late Gothic period. A chapel to the south completes this architectural ensemble.
Partly listed as historical monuments since 12 July 1978, the castle includes facades, roofs and a chapel transformed into a parish church. The property is shared between a private owner and the municipality. Its architecture reflects both a defensive vocation and an adaptation to the residential and religious needs of the late medieval era.
Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, highlight its heritage importance in Aveyron. The castle is located precisely at 3 Rue du Château, although its GPS location is judged to be of medium accuracy (level 6/10).
