Origin and history
Trosnay Castle, located in the village of Le Thoult-Trosnay (Marne, Grand Est), is a 17th and 18th century building. It now consists of two distinct parts: an old section including a tower, and an old farm converted into a large U-shaped property with a bell tower. This monument illustrates the architectural evolution of the seigneurial residences of the region, combining defensive elements and agricultural dwellings.
The castle served as a place of passage to Blanche de Navarre and a resort residence in Thibault de Champagne during his youth. These historical references underline its importance as a place of residence for noble personalities of the medieval and modern era. Although partially transformed, the site retains traces of its past prestige, as evidenced by its protected facades and roofs.
Partly listed as historical monuments since 26 August 1988, Trosnay Castle is now a private property. The protected elements specifically include the facades and roofs of the old part (cadastre C 316). Its present state reflects both its aristocratic heritage and its adaptation to contemporary uses, such as the rental of rooms or accommodations, although these details are not specified in the available sources.
