Origin and history

The Château des Croisettes, also known as Croisettes, is a large eclectic house inspired by Italian villas, built at the end of the 19th century. Located in La Côte-Saint-André (Isère), it is surrounded by a landscaped park of four hectares, designed between 1891 and 1895 by architect Gabriel Luizet. The building, organized around a central hall, combines bricks, varnished tiles and ceramics, with a gazebo terrace.

The castle was built from 1892 for the industrial Xavier Perugia de Montclos, according to the plans of his brother, the architect Paul Perugia de Montclos. The estate, a private property closed to the public, has been partially listed as historical monuments since 1997, including facades, lobby, staircase and park. Part of the site is bordered by the departmental road 518, known as Avenue du Marshal Joffre.

The park, combining Italian garden and landscaped spaces, reflects the influence of Italian villas, while the castle illustrates the architectural eclecticism of the late 19th century. Although not accessible to the visit, the estate remains a testament to the region's industrial and artistic heritage, linked to the Peruvian family of Montclos and landscape architect Luizet.
