Origin and history

The Château du Bois-Louis is a building built in the 18th century at Châtelet-en-Brie in Seine-et-Marne. Originally, this estate was a fief dependent on the priory of Saint-Louis de Poissy. The building, surrounded by ditches, served as much for defense as for fish farming, reflecting the multiple uses of castles of that time.

In the 19th century, the castle underwent changes, partially changing its original structure. Its walls, composed of stone and brick, bear witness to the construction techniques typical of centuries past. The estate has known several owners, including members of the Rouillé du Coudray family, who have marked its history.

Located in the Louis wood, at the communal limit with Sivry-Courtry, the castle remains a notable heritage element of the Île-de-France region. Although sometimes confused with neighbouring municipalities, it clearly belongs to the territory of Châtelet-en-Brie, where it constitutes a local architectural and historical vestige.
