Origin and history

The Château du Colombier, located in Heudebouville in the Normandy region, is a monument built during the second half of the eighteenth century. This castle, accompanied by its dovecote, illustrates the aristocratic residential architecture of this period, marked by a concern for elegance and symmetry. The facades and roofs of the castle, as well as those of the dovecote, were inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 4 May 1984, while the large living room and its decor, located on the ground floor, was classified in the same year. These protections highlight the heritage value of the architectural and decorative elements preserved.

The official address of the castle, according to the Merimée base, is 1 National Road, 27400 Heudebouville, in the department of the Eure. The monument is located with a priori satisfactory accuracy (note 6/10), although GPS coordinates do not allow a finer identification without on-site verification. The Insee code of the commune, 27332, confirms its attachment to the district of Evreux, in Haute-Normandie (now integrated with the Normandy region). No information is available on its current accessibility (visits, rentals, accommodation).

Available sources, including Monumentum, do not provide details about the sponsors, architects or historical occupants of the castle. Only administrative data and legal protections are documented, highlighting the preservation of the facades, roofs and interior decoration of the large living room. The lack of practical information (times, services) suggests that the monument could be a private property or waiting for tourism development.
