Origin and history

Château du Coupoy is a building located in the commune of Gron, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. The available sources do not specify its period of construction or its architectural style, but its name suggests an origin related to a seigneurial estate or an aristocratic residence. The castles of this region, often built between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, served as places of power, defence or residence for local elites.

In Gron, as in other villages in the Loire Valley, these monuments played a central role in the social, economic and sometimes military organization of the surrounding community. Their presence often reflected the strategic or agricultural importance of the territory.
