Origin and history

The Château du Grand-Casset was a monument located in the commune of La Boisse, in the department of Ain, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This castle, which has now disappeared, was a private property before becoming a place of reception for children and young people facing social difficulties. It was destroyed in 2017 due to the risk of collapse that threatened it.

The castle was also known as "Maison Georges-Lapierre". He once belonged to Louis Andrieux, a notable French political figure, notably as the natural father of the writer Louis Aragon. Its history is marked by a social vocation, offering refuge to vulnerable audiences before its recent disappearance.

The decision to destroy the castle in 2017 was made for security reasons, ending decades of existence. Although the building no longer exists, its past remains linked to the local history of La Boisse and the associated social commitment.
